Here are 4 key points to share about printing design

The various processes involved in printing are extremely numerous and cannot be listed one by one. For now, the ones that I can think of are relatively prone to errors. I hope experts and experienced friends can correct and supplement them.

To friends who are new to the industry, I still want to say a few words. Don't immediately post questions about any problems that arise. First, figure it out by yourself to see where the problem lies. If you have any questions about the production or process, you can first browse the "Must-Read for Beginners" and "Highlights", or you can search on the corresponding design and printing websites. It is also necessary to keep in frequent contact with the next party (such as printing factories, plate-making companies, inkjet printing companies, card-making companies, etc.) to understand the process flow, process requirements, equipment performance, etc. Experience is accumulated, not by reading books or just listening to others. If you do not get in touch with it, it will always be just empty talk and of no use.

The graphic color mode must be CMYK or grayscale.

2. If a large area of pure black background is required in a color image, it is recommended to use K:100, C:30. Such black will be brighter when printed than single-color black. At the same time, the presence of the blue plate can make up for the deficiency of black plate printing being inaccurate. Of course, this value is not fixed. I once made a double-sided poster and used K:100 and C:80. This was because the area was too large and the printing press was fast, making it difficult to solidify the colors. Therefore, the values were increased accordingly. Also, if there are warm-toned patterns on the entire picture with feathered edges or warm-toned transparency, etc., the values at this time should be adjusted according to the actual main warm tones. For example, K:100, M:60, Y:70. The transition parts of such patterns are very comfortable and not as strange as when K:100. This phenomenon can be observed by everyone through an experiment in PHOTOSHOP.

3. White characters or thin white lines are reflected on the multicolored patterns. When choosing a font (or the weight of the lines), be careful not to use overly thin fonts such as Fangsong or Xiyuan. Instead, try to use fonts with distinct lines like Heiti or Lishu to avoid the possibility of inaccurate plate registration and unclear text or lines. 4. When making small tags and other items that require box pressing and punching, it is important to note that the outer frame should not be designed as much as possible. Because, if there is even a slight deviation in the plate position during the box rolling process, it will result in one side being larger than the other.

4. When designing newsprint and offset paper printing, it is important to note that both newsprint and offset paper consume a lot of ink. Therefore, in addition to paying attention to the mesh count when making the film, it is also necessary to reduce the chroma accordingly during production. For example, when making a newspaper draft, if you need to see a gray scale of 30, then set the gray scale to around 24 during production. This way, when printed on the somewhat gray newsprint, The actual effect is equivalent to a gray scale of 30. (Double) Offset paper is whiter than newsprint. The chroma adjustment can be lower than that of normal copperplate printing and higher than that of newspaper drafts. The specific adjustment depends on experience and feeling.
