Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released the operating conditions of major industrial sectors for the period from January to April 2025. Data shows that the output of machine-made paper and paperboard (excluding the processing of purchased raw paper) by large-scale enterprises across the country was 51.571 million tons, an increase of 3.3% compared with 2024. The production end continued to show an upward trend, but the year-on-year growth rate was already weaker than that of the first quarter.
In April alone, the output of paper and paperboard was 13.484 million tons, increasing by 1.6% year-on-year. It decreased by 7.3% month-on-month.
From January to April, the operating income of the papermaking and paper products industry was 446.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%. The total profit was 11.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%.
